Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church (ECAC) is a growing, intergenerational and intercultural community of followers of Jesus. We are a Christ-centered, Spirit empowered, service minded and mission focused church with a vision to turn people into fully devoted followers of Jesus.

The English Pastor is responsible for the oversight and development of volunteers and ministry objectives for the English-speaking congregation so that God’s vision for Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church may be furthered.

Supervises: Council members and other groups of leaders

  • Mature follower of Jesus who has a vibrant and growing relationship with God
  • Spiritual leader in the home, church and community
  • A love for people with excellent people skills
  • Strong desire to reach out to non-believers with the Gospel message
  • Excellent servant-leadership skills
  • A team player, willing to work with and support other pastors
  • Able to think organizationally and develop proper systems
  • Strong interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Strong desire to develop believers through disciple making
  • Passionate and supportive of the church’s vision
  • Intrinsically motivated and yet sees the important value of reflection
  • Well-Connected regarding current issues, needs and challenges that youth face today
  • Ability to be invitational: identifying, equipping and mobilizing volunteers

Primary Duties

Ministry to English-Speaking Congregation

  • Sustain an orderly atmosphere for worship
  • Help review, develop and implement a unique ministry and philosophy for English ministries that is consistent with the vision and strategies of ECAC
  • Join the disciple making movement by developing disciples who makes disciples. Continue to guide a workable disciple making journey geared toward the English-speaking congregation
  • Work as a cohesive team member and Bible teacher with another English pastor
  • Provide pastoral care
  • Develop/encourage and oversee fellowships/groups

Equipping Leaders

  • Invite, develop, coach and disciple a group of leaders who share in the implementation of the church vision
  • Develop a prayer support base for ministry

Other Duties

  • Guide co-workers in developing their annual budget that aligns with ministry plans
  • Participate in weekly church prayer meetings
  • Preach regularly in worship services and in other gatherings
  • Work with other pastors for necessary ministry needs
  • Attend staff meetings and correspondence


  • Clear call to vocational ministry
  • Must be licensed worker in the C&MA
  • Must be willing to be part of a team and work well in a team environment
  • Master or bachelor’s degree from an accredited Seminary/College
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in ministry equivalent

Hours per Week

  • 37.5 hours per week, salary
  • Plus average 5 volunteer hours per week
